Ethical Sourcing
We support the UN’s Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the International Labour Organisation’s Declaration of Philadelphia, adhering to conventions including freedom of association, fair wages, reasonable working hours, and conventions against child labour.
We only partner with suppliers who adhere to strict Fair Trade practices, ensuring that the farmers behind every bean are paid a fair wage. This enables them to reinvest in their farms and communities, nurturing a cycle of growth and prosperity.
Our commitment to sustainability extends to supporting local growers and small farms. By sourcing beans directly from them, we ensure that our supply chain is as short and transparent as possible, minimizing environmental impact.
Sustainable Packing, Preserving Natural Resources
We believe that great coffee shouldn’t come at the planet’s expense. That’s why we’ve continued to move towards using biodegradable, recyclable, or compostable materials, such as in our 100% recyclable aluminium capsules or compostable Rip ‘n Drip coffee bags, allowing you to enjoy Killer Coffee guilt-free.
With our supply partners we actively implement practices that optimise resource consumption while minimising waste generation. Waste recycling and proper disposal are integral components of our efforts, and our partners are committed to ensuring that waste is managed in an environmentally sound manner.
Eco-Friendly Production
Our roasting facilities are designed with energy efficiency in mind, using state-of-the-art technology to minimize waste. From energy-efficient roasters to solar-powered warehouses, every step in our process contributes to a reduced carbon footprint.
KEEPING IT SOLAR
Our facility is kitted out with 300 Canadian solar monocrystalline PV modules (310 watt), generating over 132000 kWh’s per annum. This setup reduces our carbon footprint by 70%!
Carbon Offsetting
We recognize that our responsibility to the environment goes beyond reducing our carbon footprint. That’s why we’ve implemented a robust carbon offsetting program to balance out the emissions we can’t eliminate.
Through partnerships with reputable environmental organizations, we invest in projects that are designed to remove or reduce greenhouse gas emissions. These initiatives include reforestation, renewable energy, and methane capture projects, which play a vital role in combating climate change. With these initiatives we are eliminating 400 tonnes of CO2 emissions each year!
Sustainable Farming Practices
Our partners actively work with producers to implement sustainable agricultural methods that promote biodiversity, minimise ecological harm, and preserve the health of the environment.
Our coffee supply partners collaborate with producers to address challenges related to pesticides and deforestation. By promoting responsible practices, we aim to protect the environment and preserve natural ecosystems.
